Metal Roll Forming Process

How does a metal roofing or siding panel get made? When you buy a metal panel, it has gone through a significant process to reach the point where it can cover your building securely. The steel goes through a long process that includes forging steel, rolling it into coils, painting it, and then forming it into sheets. The final process is called metal roll forming where it is taken from a large coil and made into panels.

At Wagler Steel, we receive the metal in large coils weighing up to 10,000 lbs. Our business is a metal roll forming company, so we make it into metal panels. The process that we use to make panels is metal roll forming. Our machines unroll the coils and run it through a set of rollers that will form the ridges and indentations into the panels and then cut them to the correct length.

The video below shows the process that we follow in this process.

The process at Wagler Steel is as follows:

  1. We receive our metal in coils up to 10,000 lbs.
  2. Coils are transported on fork lifts and stored.
  3. When an order is received, the coil is flipped and placed on the uncoiler, which feeds the metal into the roll former.
  4. Our roll former cuts the metal to length and forms it into sheets.
  5. Metal is ready for pick up or delivery.

At Wagler Steel, we are proud to say that we can turn most orders within 24-48 hours. We do our best to provide the best possible service for our customers.

Because we turn around orders so fast, we do not keep a lot of inventory. We can keep track of all that we do and process orders with software that is designed for metal roll-forming companies similar to the Paradigm software. This allows us to give our customers optimal service!
